Obama Signs Law Outlawing Synthetic Drugs

Employee Screening NewsOn Monday, President Obama signed a law banning a number of synthetic drugs.

The Synthetic Drug Abuse Prevention Act of 2012, contained within the Food and Drug Administration Safety and Innovation Act, outlaws synthetic marijuana, sold under many different names including K2 and Spice, as well as synthetic drugs labeled as “bath salts” or “plant food”.

The act also outlaws synthetic hallucinogens such as 2C-E.  A substance responsible for an incident in Blaine, MN last year which killed one teenager and sent ten more to the hospital.
